Please note, if you have already registered and created an account, please to go directly to the start of the renewal process.

How does the renewal process work?

This renewal process is designed for Approved Handlers of Agrichemicals who are seeking to renew their Agrichemical Approved Handler test certificate.

To renew a test certificate you must know about any relevant changes that have occurred to the Hazardous Substance and New Organisms (HSNO) legislation, any changes to the NZ Standard 8409:2004 and changes to work practice of agrichemical application since your previous Agrichemical Approved Handler certificate was issued.

Our renewal service will outline the changes since your last certificate was issued and after paying the fee, following the steps and answering questions relating to the changes, you will have completed the renewal process.

Two renewal options - online or post

FarmSafe provides two easy options for you to complete your renewal process:

1. Online - for those on broadband or fast dialup speed.

2. Home Pack - request a Home Pack either online or by phoning FarmSafe on 0800 545 747.

The four steps to renewing your certificate online:

Step One : Register & Create an Account
First you need to register your details - this will enable you to have a unique logon that you will require to proceed with the renewal process. Once you have registered, your logon and password will be immediately emailed to you.

You will require your current Approved Handler Certificate. If you have misplaced your certificate and you are an existing FarmSafe client, you can call FarmSafe on 0800 545 747 to request this information.

If you are not an existing FarmSafe client you will need to obtain a copy of your certificate from your original Test Certifier.

Step Two : Pay the Renewal Fee
If you choose to renew your certificate online, the renewal fee is $115 (GST incl). If you wish to receive a home pack, the fee is $135 (GST incl). As soon as payment is confirmed you can begin the online renewal service or order your Home Pack.

Step Three : EPA (ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AUTHORITY) APPLICATION FORM
Before you review the resources and complete the assessment, you will need to complete an Application for Renewal form. This form, required by EPA, will ask you for information from your current certificate.

Step Four : Review the resources and complete the Assessment
Your logon will give you access to a brief video clip and/or a downloadable workbook. This will provide you information about relevant changes to the legislation since your previous certificate was issued.

After you have watched the video and / or read the workbook there will be a short 10 question multichoice assessment which you can complete and submit online. Your unique logon details allow you to have 3 attempts at the assessment over 28 days.
